I quite enjoy robot games...as evidenced by the fact that I continue to play them - in spite of my ever-increasing contempt for the the loathsome, disgusting, and despicable twin aberrations of GIB and GIBBO (both of which I wish would vanish forever and stop polluting BBO with their interminable wretchedness).
BBO is certainly not perfect, but it's okay. It would be more "okay" if it got rid of GIB/GIBBO, because GIB/GIBBO totally sucks pumice and is a humiliation to the site...and indeed to Planet Earth.

So North's stupidity was irrelevant on this board, but I still want to point it out, because out of my huge respect for Diana, I feel obligated to bash the GIB/GIBBO robots, which is the mission statement of this essential thread that Diana created.
So, let's get down to business: I, South opened one CLUB. When East cuebid two CLUBS, I doubled...to show GOOD CLUBS. The definition of my double of two CLUBS stated that it showed "rebiddable CLUBS" and the "KQ (or equivalent) of CLUBS".
My GIBBO "partner" was on lead against West's contract of 3S. Did he lead a CLUB? Of COURSE he didn't. HE'S a GIBBO robot, and they stupidly and perversely HATE to lead their "partner's" suit...mainly because they are the worst "bridge players" the world has ever seen.
So even though I opened one CLUB and later doubled three CLUBS to show very good CLUBS, the GIBBO piece of dirt sitting across from me led a heart.
Well, okay, no one's perfect. But then North won his diamond queen at trick two, so he was on lead AGAIN at trick three. Did he lead a CLUB this time? Ha, ha, ha - of COURSE he didn't, because HE'S a GIBBO robot!

Speaking of GIB definitions, look at the ABSOLUTELY useless one for North's double of 4S: "2+ HCP; 3+ total points". That's it, that's ALL! World-class GARBAGE! Did the author of that JOKE of a definition actually think he was providing something useful...or was he purposely trying to write the single worst definition in the history of the world? If the latter, I congratulate him, because I think he might well have succeeded in his objective.

But, please, please, PLEASE, o ye defenders of and apologists for the robots, PLEASE keep reminding me how they are "better than most human players" - because for some strange reason I keep forgetting that.
Are there actually ANY super-naive people left who STILL believe that the robots have ANY idea how to play?

Once again, my recommendation is that Mr. GIB should go to bridge school. If he's lucky, they might even have a class that explains what "total" points are and how they are calculated.
If not, he undoubtedly has things to learn in EVERY OTHER CLASS anyway.

At the point he hears his partner open 1NT, he...IMMEDIATELY and ARBITRARILY and UNILATERALLY decides that the hand will be played in 6S.
Now, if someone was pointing a gun at his head and insisting that he immediately GUESS the best contract, then yes, looking at his hand, 6S would be a pretty good guess. Fair enough...EXCEPT that: There WAS no gun pointing at his head, and he had all the time and space in the world to conduct an intelligent, scientific auction to determine the best contract through investigation rather than through GUESSING.
As it turns out, SEVEN spades was ice cold on any lead...but West made a foolish lead anyway. Big surprise - NOT!

OMAR writes "GIBBO daily free game: quite the duck by West at trick one, yielding me a 99 % score on the board".
My comments:
QUITE the duck indeed! And yet there are some incredibly naive people who have stated that the GIB/GIBBO robots are "better than most human players". I certainly hope those poor, misguided souls look at THIS hand!

Why the Hell is he bidding 3D? He has NOTHING more than his earlier 2D bid showed. He has only five diamonds, even though his own GIB definition claims that it shows "6+ diamonds". He's as flat as he can possibly be (given that he has a five-bagger) at 3-3-5-2. He's vulnerable. He's doing this in direct, NOT passout position.
It's a typically stupid, undisciplined, unilateral call - proving that these repulsive GIBBO monstrosities are not just lousy players but also lousy partners.
Furthermore, even though it seemingly worked out well, the miserable little GIBBO twerp actually gained NOTHING, because if he had correctly kept his ignorant mouth shut, I (South) would have competed with 3D anyway in the passout position...and if my hand was NOT suitable for competing, we would NOT have made the required 9 tricks and the undisciplined call by Superstooge in the North would have COST us.
GIBBO robots are consistently nothing but junk. GIB/GIBBO stinks.

Look at the unbelievably stupid 3S bid made by the sickening piece of GIBBO dirt in the North on THIS (!) auction:

At my table, I had bid honestly and accurately according to the GIB definitions. At this other table, the human South VERY wisely did NOT bid "honestly and accurately according to the GIB definitions", but he was REWARDED for his actions, thanks to the typically gross incompetence of the two braindead GIBBO misfits sitting East-West.
This human was also in 3NT and also received a spade lead. But whereas my East had stumbled into correctly finding the killing heart switch, the beetle-browed droke at THIS table continued spades. Declarer won the spade at trick two and led a low club towards dummy's QJ104. West (perhaps the stupidest "bridge player" who has ever walked the Earth) popped his ace...ONLY to IMMEDIATELY fire back ANOTHER CLUB! Declarer, after this sublimely wretched "defence" now had an easy 9 tricks. More power to him for exploiting the unparalleled stupidity of the world's most braindead robots.
Wherever they are, whatever they do, GIB/GIBBO robots invariably prove to the universe what total trashcans they are. They are the worst, the absolute worst. The worst there is, the worst there was, the worst there ever will be (apologies to Bret "Hitman" Hart for paraphrasing and reversing one of his catchphrases).
GIB/GIBBO is nothing but garbage. I've been playing GIB robot games for 9 years, and there has not been even a single day where the robots were not horrendous. Given that track record, they rate to continue being horrendous for as long as they continue to plague, pollute, and blemish this otherwise good bridge site. GIB/GIBBO rots.
See also post 2976 for some deja vu of West's glorious, world-class incompetence, because GIB/GIBBO always rots!

Then, after winning trick two, West plays a second HEART. The M.O.R.O.N. can see the dummy (!) and he still leads a HEART!
I long ago ran out of adjectives to describe how sickening, disgusting, inept, and braindead these loathsome GIB/GIBBO pieces of gutter trash are. The vocabulary of the English language has nowhere nearly enough vituperative terms for these nauseating C.R.E.T.I.N.S. I doubt that any language does.

Johnny Halfwit made the stupid lead of the NINE (!!!!!) of hearts! I can't blame him for not finding the "winning" spade lead, but SURELY he should be leading the QUEEN of hearts from QJ9864!
I always had ELEVEN top tricks (7 diamonds, 2 hearts, 2 clubs), but because an I.D.I.O.T. was on lead, I had a TWELFTH trick with dummy's WINNING stiff heart 10.
And now East was legitimately squeezed in clubs and spades. Presto: All 13 tricks.
GIB/GIBBO: Not just the worst "bridge players" of all time, but also the worst opening leaders of all time. (AND the most disgusting.)
