And if you're not playing WJS's I still don't understand the problem.

Looks like a 1♥ bid if WJS isn't available, otherwise a routine 2♥.
I know: in all the books, the WJS is set at 6 cards and the suit is better. The books always show the perfect hand, but life seldom deals it to us, so we learn to cope.

Still, I think this would be better posted elsewhere.

There is that, most experts I talk bridge with play it as preemptive but this could just be group think or regional. I prefer weak a lot if you can show shortness after making your forcing raise in a minor, I guess if you play 3maj as a splinter you can split up the ranges or differentiate between void? I like to just be able to bid 3x when I have a reasonable 7 card suit personally.

Back to the answer to this topic, i think first 2 posters said it all.
Classic Rduran topic in this forum. It is like "you are starving to death in the middle of desert, you have a great meal available in your backpack, what would you do ? " he believes it requires an expert view to figure whether he should eat the meal or the sand, while some posters, imo rightly, thinks anyone with basic primal instincts will know what to do and that you don't needs a rocket scientist to get right answer.
But i give him the benefit of doubt, since he asked this, it may not be as obvious as it is to him. Or may be he forgot to ask "the methods of others" and asked it as what we would do with what is available to us. Whatever....
"It's only when a mosquito lands on your testicles that you realize there is always a way to solve problems without using violence!"
"Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say."
