lol, I mean it was a reasonable question, but basically I view it a huge diminishing returns from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd. I think 2nd in the reisinger would be on par with 1st in the swiss, and 3rd would not be. There is something to be said for being able to say "I am a 9 time national champion" or w/e, even though all nationals are not created equal. And then there's the whole feel good thing about winning.

That said, obv I wanna win the major titles, and to win them you have to play in them. 1st in the reisinger would be so much better than 1st in the swiss.

If we are discussing difficulty of accomplishment, I would say winning the NA swiss is comparable to being something like 5th in the Reisinger. That is, I think it's about as likely that 6 clees will win the NA swiss as it is likely that 6 clees will be in the top 5 of the Reisinger. However, the NA swiss is also a more random event. 4 good but not top players having a good run can win the NA swiss or at least get into the high overalls. 4 good but not top players have no chance of winning the Reisinger, so to me, being 5th in the Reisinger is a much better indicator of skill than winning the NA swiss, since the Reisinger is a lower variance event.

However, people remember who wins national events, even the less prestigious ones. Not many people remember who was 4th (or even 2nd) in the Reisinger in 2009.

It's easier for Team Cayne to win the Reisinger than to win the NA Swiss :)

1st in swiss is definitely easier than 5th in the reisinger.
