I would not bid 1NT anyway. From where are my tricks coming? At worst I will be 3 down and the opps have nothing.

There are lots of reasons to balance

Ops have passed out weakly at 2♣, without even an invite; hence partner is marked with a bit of values, perhaps 3-6 points.
Neither op bid a major; hence partner is likely to have a five card major, and will have a four card major almost 100% of the time.
By my initial pass, partner can infer that I have at most 7 cards in the majors; hence he will not go too high.
The prime values in my hand give us a decent chance to go plus, either by declaring 2 of a major, or defending 3 of a minor. But defending 2 of a minor is probably a minus score.

Once when I was fairly new to the game, I went to ask one of the club experts an opening lead question. I started with "I'm on lead vs. 2♣ holding ..." The expert interrupted me and said, "you should never be on lead against 2♣". Never might be an exaggeration, but I don't think this hand is the exception to the rule.

hehe and this is correct, unless perhaps it's IMPs and you're vul.

So, for the given hand, pass initially since you don't have both majors, then double and let partner pick his major and hopefully score up 110.
