West:
Scoring: IMP

Pass 2NT pass 3NT AP

What do you lead?

Just curious, because I led the 3 and was berated for it in very broken English. Partner then proceeded to discard all her high cards.

The club lead wasn't very appetizing but without any bidding, I can't rationalize leading something else. Am I missing something?

Incidentally, I finished 96/192 in the tourney, +0.23 IMPs despite the -8.66 IMPs on this hand. The partner in question finished 186/192 with -25.94 IMPs.

Edit:
Partner's high was a 6 so any diamond lead finesses myself.
Partner had K but declarer is sitting behind her with AQ
Partner DID have a nice 5 card spade suit with the KQ but if south ducks a J lead and takes the next, partner never gets back into lead those 3 spade winners.

The normal lead is a club, if you feel agressive you can lead a major.

Nothing rates to work but I would have tried the J because I expect my entries to limited as well and the opponents made no efforts to find a major suit fit.

A club lead looks very normal.

The only suit which looks obviously wrong to lead is .

And a looks as good, if not better, than the others.

Great thanks... I just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy. Just had a crazy partner, no worries. :-)

I would lead a major if my s were xxxx, and partner rated to have all the entries. Here, though, things are more uncertain, and it's not impossible that partner will have some help in clubs.
Still decidedly intermediate - don't take my guesses as authoritative.
