I assume opener's double would be TO?

If so, I will also make a TOx.

I pass. I worry that anything I do to reopen could lead to the wrong suit, or that neither side even has a fit.

Pass, unless 2NT shows this hand, lol.

If by "shows this hand" you mean "pick a minor", then no. However double "shows this hand"

If you meant anything more specific (for instance, showing a preference for one minor over the other), then there is no call that shows this hand.

Yeah, I mean something more specific. I suppose p could scramble with 2NT over our double. But wouldn't he bid 3 with a 6223?

Yeah, 3 on 2623 or 2632 or 3622? Or 3 with a 3523? Or 2NT to choose between hearts and clubs with a 2614? Those are some of the cases that worry me, that we will have a fit and not even find it.

Dbl for me. Pard can always bid 2NT with equal length in the minors.

If I have both double and 2NT available for takeout, I think double invites him to bid 3 with six, but 2NT doesn't, or not as much anyway.

I'd just bid 3, though. I only want to play in clubs opposite 1-4 in the minors, but if I offer him a choice we'll end up in clubs opposite 1-3, 2-3 and even 3-3. The arguments for pass are quite strong too.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Agree with 3D...we do have 6 of them. I think jdonn actually never balances anymore :)

Scoring: IMP

I balanced with 3 which went -2. I think this was a push.
