Suppose you prefer to lead 3rd/low against NT.
Do you prefer to have exceptions on this?
- From AQT2 we will lead 2
What do you lead from a bad holding?:
- 8642
Or from a low sequence?:
- 9862
- 986
- 8752
- 8742
- 875
...

I played 3rd/low against NT for a few years - and wound up abandoning it in favor of attitude leads (lowest if I want it returned, regardless of length, usually 2nd-highest if not). I realize that's not quite an answer to your question.

When I did play it, I still led 9 from KJ9x, for instance, though that will sometimes blow a trick; having partner not return the suit because he things you started with just Kxx can blow a trick or two also.

AQTx or KJ9x are two reasons why 3rd/low is not as popular against NT as it is against suit contracts...

From 98x(x) I lead the 9 against NT, but 3rd against suit contracts. I don't make any other exceptions.
