I suspect that I have been around on BBO for as long as pretty much anyone.

Never thought much of the new management but the new membership plan is stupid even for them...

It will be interesting to see which of the competing platforms picks up the exodus.

Guess that we're lucky that this happened after good competitors emerged.

I agree with all of that except for good competitors, who are you referring to?
I am a fan from day one of RealBridge, but they are not a direct competitor.
Synrey has a decent robot but is the same corporation, as is Funbridge.
Swan had a rocky start, I have not looked since.

The Basic membership is completely useless.
Who is going to visit the site to play 6 hands?
BBO must be getting no advertising money from these players if they are willing to write them off so casually.

I hope i can @least watch the vuegraphs without paying. Our group of 20 including many juniors are going to use Realbridge to play which will be 12 times cheaper than BBO for our needs.

How does this work? We will be looking at alternate platforms for 8 person team games. No masterpoints, no bots.

Good point.
I looked at Intobridge in the beginning, seemed a good hope but there were no pairs tournaments for me and there were rumours about Lia.
Now I see that the site is looking really slick and confident, but also that it is offering Ben (?) with the support of Laurent who was supposed to be fixing GiB for BBO (??).
Not sure what to make of that, but it looks like either Intobridge sold out to the same black hole who now decided to play them as the newco, or BBO is even more spineless than we thought :(

You get what you pay for. BBO is a bargain. Try finding an alterntive of equal quality.

Never easy to find an alternative when there is a monopoly.
BBO used to be a bargain, but has doubled in price twice since then.
The quality has not improved overall.

Yeah, I've had enough of this now as well. Been here about 25 years, one way or another, but that's the lot for me.

I'm going to leave. I'll be here for the occasional vuegraph session for free only. It's actually the ONLY thing this site provides that is worth any money. User experience playing bridge, level of play by bots and level of play by the vast majority of people here all sucks. The bots would very frequently have to refund their fees if they were real people getting paid to play.

I came here because of the annoying new frame advertising the forums every hand I play
Not even commercial raising cash, sorry investment capital
Just annoying
Imagine my surprise accidentally clicking an ad and ending up here :)
Sorry to sound so brutally commercial but seems a waste of real estate

More seriously had been missing you Richard. Forums aren't the same these days

EDIT Fortunately I rarely have the BBO site full screen so have just pushed it a little to the left :) - edit 2 aftre having been discouraged from even starting a game Ihave found the frame disappears while playing :) But I did just end up here because I clicked the ad to see where it went :)
