Slow Connection BBO slows down as I play

Each time I log on, BBO seems to behave normally for a very few hands, but then slows down dramatically,
usually to where it might even take 30 seconds or a minute to respond to a click on a bid or a card.
Often when this sort of thing happens, BBO reports detecting a “slow connection.”
The problem doesn’t occur with any other web site except BBO,
so I have difficulty seeing how it could be specific to my computer of internet connection.
I had Best Buy Geek Squad do a cleanup on my computer, which I think involves scanning for malware and deleting temp files.
But it made no difference.
Any advice appreciated.

Looks like you are using the BBO app, on a mobile device -- what device is it ?
I've hid ads for your account to see if that helps with the lag. If you don't mind, come back after a few days and let us know if the app continues to slow down over longer sessions.

Which I was happy to do (although I would have been happy to continue hearing their voices) and it seemed that pushing either of the mysterious "+" and "x" buttons did kill both videos, whatever the intention of the buttons was.

It makes having a weak signal far more noticeable than before.

There isn't really a direct correspondence between the two methods. The strength indicator was based on an average of response times, while the popup happens after a single delayed message. So the popup notification could easily happen when the indicator would only have dropped to 3 bars.

This is a recent thing since the last update, several weeks I would say.
It is making bbo unusable.

The notification warns your partner that his connection is unstable. It does not cause the disconnect, it simply says "you are about to lose connection because you have network issues".
It seems to not serve it's expected purpose though, so we will consider removing it entirely. If players believe the message boots them, this is a bit funny, but definitely not the utility value we were hoping this will bring

Thanks for the response. We played 17 hands and he was booted out once which is an improvement but still not satisfactory. There is nothing wrong with the internet connection. The ipad works perfectly. The only problem is with BBO. This all started about a month ago.

It can be the device, not the ISP.
I get the message frequently on my Amazon Fire tablet, but never on my MacBook. They're both going through the same router, although the laptop uses Ethernet while the tablet uses WiFi.

My experience suggests it is the combination of poor (but not enough to disturb other applications) wifi and BBO, not the device or the ISP.
Did you try using the laptop in wifi (in same place you have had problems with the laptop)?

I haven't, but I suspect it's more likely to be the cheap WiFi chip in the tablet, not WiFi in general.
But I'll give this a try.

I used the MacBook on WiFi when I played on BBO for a couple of hours last night, but didn't get any slow connection warnings. So I think it's the tablet that's slow.
But the important point is that it's not at the BBO end.
