I passed with 108. Partner bid 3 which I judged correctly to be a re-transfer (but I prefer natural - our 1NT was weak), and I had to guess whether he was competing or inviting.

What methods do you use here?

You could play 3 as invitational with hearts or you could play it as nonforcing with both red suits.

Retransfer is not useful here, you are happy to have overcaller on lead.

Double for take-out is also available and some invitational hands can use that. So I think I prefer weak with both red suits.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

With only 10 8 does it matter?
I have discussed a lot of situations with my partner and this is not one of them
As I did not compete myself, partner should bid accordingly and I would much rather have 3 available as a natural bid and 3 as competitive and double for Penalty

Sir,what would one bid holding AKxx-xx-Qxx-xxxx ? 3S/3NT/4D ? OR perhaps something else? The query has been put in "Natural Bidding".Does it change with S-AQxx instead of AKxx ?

For us, 3 would have been natural and game forcing. If partner wants to play in hearts, partner can bid hearts (3 to compete, 4 to force to game  ).

For us too no re-transfer here, partner can bid hearts or 3 natural but not game forcing.

I would not hold the hand in this context. I do not open it 1NT (would you?) nor respond 2.
