I haven't read that book, Jilly, but I have frequently read Thom's columns on the Internet. Have you read the book? If so, what's your opinion of it?

The book looks very interesting, but I haven’t read it and doubt I will. I’m more interested in what’s going on in the rest of the world.

There is nothing so low he wouldn't do it. He has no moral compass.

I am so ready for this election season to be over tonight. But it probably won't be -- I'm sure Trump will contest every result that doesn't go his way.

And the 2028 campaigns will get under way pretty soon, too. Sometimes I hate our system....

As a Canadian whose life, as are the lives of virtually all Canadians, has been adversely affected by the a Trump regime, and as someone who sees US politics as in many ways more important than Canadian politics, I am HAPPY tonight!!!!!!!!

Donnie wanted people to vote as if he was on the ballot. I think they did! Take that, Donnie: Most Americans don't like you.

Among the losers on Tuesday: Paxton, Abbott, Graham, Vivek,...

More good news: This means that the days of Little Mike Johnson being Speaker of the House will soon be coming to an end. Good riddance!

The bad news is that Orange Man still has a little over two years left to continue proving that he's the worst president ever, but at least it looks like he'll be largely a lame duck. Now let's hope the Democrats start some investigations and some impeachments.

I agree, WWM. But let's add Trump, Vance, Patel, and Bessent for the next foursome...with many more to follow.

This isn't a topic for TV show reviews, but late last night I watched one of the most hilarious shows I've ever seen.

The show was the Fox Propaganda Channel Election Night coverage show, and by this time, Fox's prime time "B" team had already called it a night and the "C" team was on the air. As the right half of the screen was showing the results, Democrats had been projected to win at least 245 out of 435 seats in the House (Republicans were only projected to win 160 based on current vote counts), and flipped at least 7 senate races where the incumbent was a Convicted Felon Trump cult member for a Democratic majority of at least 54 seats out of 100.

The show hosts were shown on the left side of the screen. One remote Fox stooge was spinning the results like there was no tomorrow (actually, by that time, it was tomorrow) and was proudly stating the public agreed with Republican values, but maybe weren't that overjoyed about some of the candidates. Seeing that there were 15-25+% swings to the Democrats from the 2024 election that seemed like a hilarious take.

One of the hosts then started ranting about all the Democrats being radical socialists and that this was a trap set by Republicans to let the socialists ruin the country (maybe by starting another war in Iran, or starting a tariff war against the rest of the world, or be the most corrupt regime in world history, or be more corrupt than Convicted Felon Trump, his corrupt family, and their billionaire friends. Because of the socialists, Republicans would make a huge comeback and sweep the 2028 elections as a result.

Of course, Democrats are proud to support some of the biggest ticket items in the federal budget, socialist programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Income Security, Veterans benefits and services. Well, that makes sense because Convicted Felon Trump and his cult members in Congress are trying to cut or eliminate all of those programs.

It's going to be turbulent time in US politics for sure, starting with the next few weeks while the Republicans still control congress and continuing on through the Trump presidency. But I'd advise the new congress to focus strongly and visibly on making healthcare affordable for everyone. Maybe Trump won't veto the legislation needed, and if he does, that clarifies the matter for the voters.

Obviously other problems need to be addressed too, but it will be harder and slower for congress to override the executive branch on the Iran war disaster and the Trump tariff stupidities.

Democrats won't have a veto-proof majority. But can we optimistically hope that some Republicans will see the light based on what happened this week, and join with Dems on overriding Trump vetoes on bipartisan bills that really try to solve the problems that citizens are really suffering from?

We'll need about 45 GOP defectors in the House and 10 in the Senate.

Edit I appreciate that could be an oxy***** if read in certain ways

Edit 2 Apparenty oxy m o r o n had to be censored. I apologise for any offence

That happened under (President - my apologies) Trump. Imagine the next few terms. How is it possible for posts to become self-referential so quickly
