Personally, I prefer to have both shape and intermediates, or lots of shape (especially at this vulnerability). So a more defensive 5-5 won't do for me.

I would with the 1st one in a nano-second, surprised to see it doesn't get any love. When I open that hand 1st seat vul, I do it bec it's two suiter, so partner's x gives me a perfect shot at showing it.

I'd bid 4 with all of them except the last one.

1234 (script seems to be broken)

not 5 because I'd try 4H instead
not 6 because of the bad shape

I can see the rationale for bidding 4 on a 4 card suit, since partner rates to hold 4 of them and will sometimes hold 5, and partner will often be unable to act should we pass.

However, and this may be my innate conservatism (at bridge, not politics) showing through:

1. he may have a weakish hand with long spades and we have no viable fit at the 4 level
2. he may have a good hand, since he is unpassed, and take me too seriously when I make a free bid on a 4 card suit with a minimum hand (a nice minimum, but still a minimum).
3. I'd like him to have the confidence that comes from knowing that in these sequences I have a real reason for bidding. This is really just another way of expressing my 2nd point.
4. Because he is unlimited, he may be able to act again. I can pass and pull to 4 with the 4 card suit, since his double would be card showing, not penalty.
