I play this with Joe Grue, and I also play 2S as artificial! The idea is to pass and then bid when you have spades. Even if they're psyching, they probably won't get you. You can have much better auctions using X as responsive, especially considering the shapes people double with now (I know not you much) it is really important when you have 4-4 in the minors, or even 4-3 if you want to compete but don't want to bid 1N.

Moral of the story: psyche with 3-4 cards against Hamman and whereagles, psyche with a singleton vs gnasher and gwnn. Against Italians and Grue-Lall you can psyche in any suit. :)
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.
