Does anyone know where to get a writeup of the orriginal K-S system? I have a modern version via http://www.bridgeguy...anSheinwold.pdf, but there are many deviations from the orriginal scheme, especially in the followups.

Try Amazon. You can get the original book (1963) for just a few bucks. Kaplan Sheinwold Updated (1973) is available from Baron-Barclay. Both written by Edgar, I believe.

Long as we're on the subject, you may also want to keep your eye out for Bridge is a Partnership Game, the "original Roth-Stone book," from 1957 or 1958. (Admittedly mostly of historical interest - it has quite a few treatments that did not stand the test of time well.)

the bidding theory of the 1962 book is fantastic,and bidding judgement is very good
kaplan's book on the contested auction is well ahead of its time.
i became a fan years ago
the ks reverses and the bidding of fragments will teach you a lot.
i actully played the system exactly as the bridge world sute briefly, but then partner went away
one day, maybe i will find another one.

In college I had the original KS book, and a number of folks in the dorm played KS as well. I enjoyed having the systemic controlled psyche available. Alas, the powers that be (ACBL, at least) have decided that this is toy that is no longer in our playpen.
