The thread which announces the new forum software invites replies - but I can't reply to it.

My squirrel pic has disappeared :(

Pages with hand diagrams load slowly

How do you do hidden text?

Pinned topics are merely at the top of the list, rather than separated - meaning that you have to scan past them.

Don't like the colours - don't want red on a screen I have to read.

Right, like the old one, the BBO Announcements Forum is read only.

Yes, sorry. Looking for a way to restore those.

True, they are slower than text, or images. Unclear whether they can be improved.

or

(as in the old forums) but no button. Using the Full Editor, it is an entry under Other Styles.

Ah, yes - but the announcement never the less invited replies

Well, I didn't find anything wrong with the old way of doing it. Perhaps you can revert the change if it can't be improved.

Thanks. I am generally using an old browser and do not want to upgrade it to use this fancy editor.

You currently have pinned topics merely at the top of the page. The old forum had them at the top of the page and separated out, boxed off. It was easy on the eye to ignore them. Now I have to scan down the page. This is not an improvement.

Also, doing this reply shows that you're not doing nested quotes of old posts - another downgrade.

And I still don't like large areas of red on the screen. It is not easy on the eye. If we must have this new forum can we have other skins without red.

The new forums look nice, but it's a bit searching for all kinds of stuff as with all new things.

Some minor points of critique:
- Still no suit symbols in polls (the new poll functionalities are really awesome however!)
- People with long interests in their profile screw up the view if they post short replies.
- Too bad all profile pictures are gone, and mine isn't displayed. Profile pictures make the forums more readable imo.
- quoting a (old?) hand diagram seems to be a problem, it doesn't look nice. The multiquote is great!

Yes the Tens seem to be missing.

And I am not sure how to add x's to the new diagrams.

Is there any way to restore at least part of the old palette? This one feels a little bit like a parrot to me. I know, I know, it's just my unfamiliarity and ignorance, but is there any way?

Is the option for creating a new poll off at the moment?
As I joined to the new forums yesterday I saw it working.

or I can't only find it again?

Don't you have the Poll Button if you create a new topic?

Using HandViewer to show hands was a goal for us for quite some time.
Hand Edition/Showing followed that.
Think at this point would be easier to find a way to make them show faster.

Full Editor is just an another option, the editor showed at first displays a limited number of options (not including Other Styles). there is a "Use Full Editor" option if you are not using it.

There is also a fancier editor, with browser requirements, but that is a separate issue.

Not sure what you meant by nested quotes. I broke your message adding headers by hand, to answer each point separately.

Will look into the Pinned issue. I usually use View New Content, so I missed it.

Tens are displayed as 10.
No UI support for Xs, but diagrams support them, just change the resulting bbcode to include them.

Polls are on. When you create a topic there is a "Manage Topic Poll" button.

At a quick glance, this looks pretty good. I'm not fond of the thick red bar across the top, but I can live with it. Hand diagrams look much better.

A couple of real problems:

Previously my password for the forums was different from my password to log into BBO to play. Now they are the same. I don't like that at all: password duplication is one of the most basic security blunders.

Also, there doesn't seem to be a button to mark an individual subforum as read (or at least I am not finding it). The only thing I found was the tiny "mark board as read" link at the very bottom, but this marked the entire forums as read, which is not what I wanted at all. Previously there was a "mark this forum as read" button.

edit: aha, found the "mark this forum as read" button, in the right side of the ugly red bar.

Btw good point, edited the announcement post to point here for anyone with comments.

We'll try to make this able to take pictures/avatars very soon. The old ones may be gone, Gerardo has a better idea on whether they can be retrieved and linked to each name, but don't have your hopes up.

Also I really like the visual hand editor. Much easier to enter hands from scratch.

Still, what I was really hoping for was a "import from myhands" function. Basically, a button that pulls up a search of my played hands for the last (say) one week, I choose one, and it loads into the editor automatically, auction, play, and all. Probably should mask player names though.

I've been here for so many years, yet I am just reading those pinned posts for the first time :), by mistake, but for the first time nevertheless.

If pinned documents on a different color is avaible that would be nice.

I agree that something should be done to set the pinned posts apart from the rest. The light green "pinned" isn't bold enough for my, especially when a light green "poll" appears in the same area.

How does "MultiQuote" work. Nothing seems to happen when I click on the button.

In the previous forum, when I clicked "mark this forum read" i was taken back to the main index, now I appear in the forum just marked as read. I can't find a preference option that would change this, but I might just not be looking in the right place.
