IMP, Vul vs NV, you are third hand holding:
x AJ9xx AKJxx Ax
Your partner open 2 (normal weak 2) and RHO pass. What will you bid?
(2NT is relay with Ogust response. 3 level new suit is F1.)

I think I like 3.

This gives pard a chance to bid 3 to show the stopper which I will raise to 4. 3N over 3 should show a club stopper (and a likely non-minimum assuming his suit quality is up to snuff) but probably nothing in hearts, and I have to guess to pass that or bid 4, but pard plays em well, so I would bid 4.

3 should be bid with most minimums, but if pard has some decent interiors, we should be in the ballpark for a vul game assuming pard can come up with six tricks or so and fair breaks.

I will just use the 2NT to ask. If Pass, we could easily miss 4H, 4S, 3NT or 5D so action is indicated. In my methods, first seat weak two does not promise much but unfavorable, it still can't be complete garbage. My second choice is 3H to beg for a raise. Of course I would like to have at least the ten or Q to bolster this suit, but focusing on spades alone in this hand is not necessary.

4 is auto provided "normal weak 2" means a partner who respects the colors and the scoring method

Agree mostly with the Tuna but it can hardly cost to bid 3 and pick 4 of either major after pards response.

I play that 3nt by pard would show 3-card hearts, a raise, 2 with an honour and 4 of a minor something or other that I can't remember cause it just doesn't happen. Everything else responds 3

Might run into a problem picking which major but if pard responds 3, easy raise and it doesn't cost to try for

I'm blowing off the suit at imps and our methods (unfortunately?) don't let us land in 3nt unless we start with 2nt instead of 3 of a suit.

agree mostly with the whiz. 3 + 4M seems ok. I'll certainly bid game here (unless pard is a loonie lol)
