Scoring: IMP

That's a random teams practice hand on BBO. Sitting at East we couldn't find the best contract in given layout. Tho we gained 15 IMPs i don't count it as a success. Instead it's dead wrong. For this reason I would like to read others tech reviews.

Our bidding was :
                P     1      2
Double   2  Double  2
2NT          P   3nt      4
4            P    5  AP

My thoughts : Playing 2/1 Invite and a few popular gadgets seems partner's Double is a mistake. I would prefer 3 or 3NT. If he would bid 3 i would read as fit for suit and a good hand there. I guess with 13 HCP he should not give an invite bid but declare a game contract. That's why i think his 2NT isn't correct. You know, it's easy to think there were 10-12 with double then 2NT. So 17+10/12 = 27/29 just 3NT seemed fine right that moment.

And..I think i also wasn't good enough there. Such as 4 could work better instead of 5 over 4. I held 17HCP and 6/4. I have no idea why i underbid a lot. There weren't any firm reason. Meanwhile, people play double to 2 penalty? Still unsure.

May I have your complete bidding for all players?

I would score +200 in 5X on this deal, even -850 is possible if I try a bad lead from a black suit. Not sure what you are complaining here

1-1-2-p
3-4-X-4
5-5-X

Sorry, could happen as you thought.

Let me repeat my concern posted on caption : Board 5, How to bid 6N and avoid 6D ?

! gwnn will be ecstatic.

Anyway, depending how South is feeling with the 67, E-W might be able to exchange more information. One scenario might be:
1-2-3-P; 3-4-X-P; ?

3 may not show this much extra playing strength as it might be probing for 3NT but it's likely to be extras given the system is strong NT. After 4 E/W are probably not in a forcing pass auction, but with West holding that much strength in the black suits it seems reasonable to be doubling. When this is passed back to East who is holding a potential trump trick has a decision to make. Given the non-forcing nature of the auction West might not have a pure penalty double but just a value double but East should probably still remove to 5 knowing the extreme distribution South has for his bidding - East may just envision a club loser and possibly a slow heart loser. West with nothing in hearts and no knowledge of the K will probably pass it out and may fear of the actual club ruff because East's bidding of 3 and removal to 5 suggests that a 1462 distribution is very probable.

On the 2nd scenario where South bids 3 then E-W may get more information across. West just needs to know about the K or East needs to know about the very good clubs. After 3 West will bid 3NT and East can now initiate a cue bidding sequence in which is it possible to propel us to 6NT.

Thanks for th input. Oh, how careless I'm, why I do that. Perhaps old habits die hard.

Why people play on BBO from USA not sensitive for such very very small things ? English isn't their parent language? Don't they send and receive messages? Believe or not, real life senior bridge friends here (SC. USA) giggle to such attitudes by some BBF attendants.

Well, however, good technical review about 6NT. :D

Yes I see, if there were fewer cards I would have told you so it could be corrected. TY

Hamdi, with all due respect, there is no sense on providing full hand and asking us how to reach a contract when south could do all kinds of different random stuff with the freak, including not mentioning ever one of its suits. We cannot provide you with 100 different auctions coping with whatever south had in mind today. I tried to provide you mine, if that's not what you wanted, please provide yours and I'll see what I can improve there.

Is it kitten time yet?
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.
