Jack of clubs. Hopefully partner is ruffing this, so I want to give suit preference. Since I won the ace of hearts that denies the king, so this shows the queen.
Always make the clearest signal possible. If you play the 8 of clubs, your partner has to consider that you might only have had J8 remaining.

Haha ok I'll say it. OOPS! Yes in that case 8 of clubs since we don't have any reason to set up a club in dummy any more.
Edit: Wait you fooled me I take it back. We still want partner to return a heart not a diamond. So the question is, if we set up the 9 of clubs in dummy by returning the jack, will it be a useful discard? Only if declarer has KQJxxxx x Ax KQT, not any other hand I can think of. I think that's likely enough that we should return the 8 and hope partner can read it.
My general point still holds, that you should make the clearest signal you can afford. I should just do a better job asking myself what I can afford.

This thread is a good one for inters. I just wish more of them would post in this forum.
Here we have basic defence. The lead of the ace followed by a shift sure looks like a singleton to me. We give suit preference for a♥ return even though it will be ruffed (overcaller should have 5) since a♦ return may blow a trick.
This basic type of Bridge101 suit pref signal is often not known or noticed even by self rated advanced players. Failure to notice this signal followed by seeming clueless when I point it out usually means that I am not sticking around with that PD for long.
