I definitely endorse the BIL experience. Having a mentor I could bounce the sometimes ridiculous questions off of certainly helped my game, and continues to do so.
Still decidedly intermediate - don't take my guesses as authoritative.

Mentors, like partners or relatives, cannot be chosen.

The BIL does a good job in trying to match people, and there you have an opportunity to try to find a mentor. Sometimes it does not work out.

I have one, he does not play with me, or even say hello, and neither do i. I just watch from the bush. If one day it catches fire, i will talk to the mentor.

Also upcoming is the BIL's ProAm Solstice Party on June 21st. BIL Players will join a star-studded cast for a match when the 'sun stands still.'

If it is that bad, you can ask me some questions and such If Im around and idle. We can also play occasionally or do some partnership-bidding if you wish.

Without any comparison to BIL´s mentor programme or same ambitions...

Seems easy ? :)

Say plenty of outside entries, can lead from either hand. To me it's often mishandled.

How about to bypass that long suit ? :)
Scoring: IMP

West led a low ♥ against your 3N. East produced th knave.
2♥, 4♣, 1♦. Wow, 7 immediate winners.

Okay, trick two someone tried ♦ finesse. :) How innocent it was. Perhaps recognized unlikely to go down :(

I just joined BIL's mentoring team. If this game is a passion and a mental challenge more than a pastime I convinced myself to help BIL members voluntarily.

You will be at correct address to exercise your mind. Thinking along proper lines, learning reasonings behind manouvres are really fun. No worries, one day skills would be sharpened. It's all in your mind.

Hey! Really World's greatest card game ;) Ssh, let's make busy Maureen more and more.

Go go go, I know beginners and intermediates will partner with us. Our duty is to teach you how to avoid hidden traps on your way.

I am surprised that you see this misplayed frequently, although I accept what you say. It seems normal to start with low to the Queen, and then when the 9 appears in front of the Queen even an intermediate player may take stock and cross back to lead another low one toward Jack.

Perhaps a bit more challenging is when both hands play low (ie lower than 8) on the first round.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

It was matchpoint pairs. Contract was 4♠. After ♥ lead at trick two ♣ Q played. Righty covered. Winning line is to continue with either Q or 9 of ♠ from table and if West plays low to employ a finesse.

But sorry. Declarer restricted herself 10 tricks with playing 6 of ♠ towards th knave.

Is that understandable ? I think yes. Perhaps th question is watching every card played and reading significance into mind recognized as an extra demand required or not.

Needless to say, training is a matter of mutually exclusive efforts. Anyways, I have credit soon my students would see how to get priorities right and could not easily produce th wrong moves at th card table anymore.
