Scoring: MP

If you open 1, partner will respond 1.
If you open 2, partner bids 2 waiting.

RHO will overcall 1 or 2 if able, and LHO will raise hearts to the 3 level if possible.

Nice to know all this before the bidding starts.
I would have opened 1 without this information and I only feel better when the opps. startbidding hearts.

1 - (p) - 1 - (1)
3 - (p) - ?
3 shows diamond fit and heart splinter.

That works better than
2 - (p) - 2 - (2)
3 - (p) - ?

In the first sequence partner knows about diamond fit, clubs and strenght.
In the second he only knows clubs and strenght.

The worst that could happen is when partner bids 1, but even then south can reverse 2 and keep the bidding forcing.

On your 1 auction, partner will bid 3. On the 2 auction, 3.

Auction 1.
Nice one for Exclusion Blackwood, sadly I don´t play that.
Partner just showed K or singleton.
All I need now is KQxx for a grand slam.
I bid 4 now and try to make partner bid 4NT RKCB.
Then I will show 3 keycards and a renonce above trumps with 6.
He´ll know which suit it is.

Auction 2.
I think I need Exclusion Blackwood even more now, but I still don´t have it.
4 - fit and splinter - after which partner will probably bid 4.
Now I can bid 5, but I can hardly believe we can bid a controled grand.
What the heck, man or mouse? Just bid 7.

Looks like a hand for Grand Slam Force! ;)

I would open 1.

1 - (P) - 1 - (1)
3 - (P) - 3 - (P)
5NT - (P) - Hopefully 7 (or 7 if discussed)

No need for exclusion of anything else here. All we care about is cards, that's why GSF was invented... If you have it in your convention reserve (waiting for 22 years to be used...)

Just forget all that mess and open 5. It's match points after all.

And that will earn you a well deserved zero.

Prefer to get a zero this way than by some stupid defensive lapse.

Lukewarm should look at this post the next time he tries to prove something in the water cooler purely by logic.

Ahem, if I'm playing strong club, I'd open 1. The hand is perfect for asking bids and stuff.
