Scoring: IMP

1-(P)-??
You play 5c Majors. What do you bid now and what is your plan?
You can bid 1 forcing, 2 or 4 weak, 3 or 4 weak (and if you want: also 3 is fit with 6-9 pts )

4. I think it's gonna be kinda hard to bid this scientifically, so I prefer to shut opps out of a possible 5m sacrifice.

1 then 5 over a possible/probable 5m. 4 will make 5m from opponents easier not more difficult and then what ?

I did bid 1 ans auction continued:
1-(P)-1-(2)
P-(5)-5-(6)
DBL-All Pass

6x made and I'm know convinced that my 1 bid was an error.
But I still wonder if 4 or 4 will generally play best.

Can't leave 6D-X in with D-void, 4-fit, 7xS !?! Bid 6H.
Is there a fit-jump in spades to 1H? That is closer to getting partner on board to this monster distribution.

4. The harder it is for your opponents to communicate, the better off you are.

It's easier to shut out opps by bidding 4 than 4, since you hide your fit with partner. And I think 4 often plays as good as or better than 4. (With bad splits it's most probably worse, but still it might shut out opps.)
Kind regards,
Harald

I want to play this hand in spades a lot of the time, and shutting out the opponents is not the priority on these cards. So I bid 1.

It doesn't take too much to produce a slam - Ax AKxxxx xxx Ax will produce 13 tricks on 2-1 hearts.

4S. If they bid 5m, I'll bid 5H.

I wonder if you had passed 5D if that is where the hand would have been played?

I am in the camp of taking a postion with this hand, either 4H or 4S but having done that I also believe this is a 1-bid hand unless something extrodinary occurs in the auction to affect my decision (such as after I bid 4S partner continues with 5H over their 5D.)

I chose to play in the known fit and would bid 4H, planning on that being my one and only bid on the hand.
