So Partner Psyched or else bid with bad suit and a couple of outside kings what's the venerability? Bid 7 if it was all non-vul and 6 non-vul against vul

If you played with my regular partner, you wouldn't find this surprising. First in a favourable, he would certainly open 3D on xx x xxxxxx xxxx.

Love all he tends to show slightly more restraint, but still I would expect 6D to be on the club finesse. Even if partner has the CK, I don't expect 7D to make because I expect partner to be (21)64

If I have some way of asking for the king of clubs, I will do that and play 7C if partner has it. Failing that, 6D.

This is really a matter of knowing what partner thinks a first in, love all, 3D opening looks like.

lol really? Would he really not open 3D with 7 diamonds and the CK and 7222 or 7321 ever? You Brits have some crazy preempting styles!

The hand may have a maximum of 11 tricks, easily. 7222 with a major King, clubs finesse failing, and the other major lead. A pattern ask (where's the stiff?) does little good, as it just directs the defense. A control ask (where's the control) does little as well, as a club control is likely a stiff.

Even 1282 or 2182 might have a maximum of 11 tricks.

Tough call.

4 keycard, is a fairly standard treatment, and then over the 1st step response, ask for Kings, but I wouldn't bother. Just bid 6... even playing with Frances' partner. If I keep doing this, maybe he'll change his preempting style :)

If you bid 4C kC, pd will show none of course and if you then ask for Ks he will show 1.

Not me playing; I am reading the bulletins in Laos. These are two of the strongest players in Aust. (Maybe explains why we don't do so well).
The bidding was 3D 7D
On a S lead best line is probably the C hook, and hope to bring down KC in 3 rounds. Well the hook works but on the actual layout only 12 tricks are available.

Just wondered who would open 3D all green first in hand?
