why would I double? my pard is sitting on a pile of garbage. pass and lead diamonds.

IMO
- Over (1N) ??: _P = 10, 2♦ = 7, _X = 3.
- After (2♣) _P (_P) ??: _P = 10, 2♦ = 4.

X would be for t/o for me, so I'll bid 2D (not that I will even consider X-ing if it were for penalties).
