Ok, nm first it was 5S p p.

I would still double over 4S p p, this hand has too much defense to bid 4N, and also too much playability in clubs. I expect to beat them when partner passes, and if he happens to find a bid I will be very happy. I think 4N will turn a plus into a minus very often.

Agree totally. Just because we are 5-5 doesn't mean we have to turn a plus into a minus. Change my suits around and I'd 4N.

Double for sure. I have too much D and O to pass, and this looks a lot more like a three suited hand than a two suited hand.

Double is the most flexible call, and it presents the best chance for a plus score and describes the handtype well.

That's just unlucky. Looking at the East-West hands, it's obviously preferable to defend 4S rather than play 5H.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

3 from 3 critical honours (Spade ace, Heart and club King) are well placed for them and game just makes.
Did pd complaint about the double? He is a whimp.
Or did he prefer 5 Heart with your hand? He is crazy.
