ANOTHER WISH:

Instead of a pop window for every call, have a dinamic window where all pending calls are stated. Sometimes two or three players from the same table call the TD and it gets a little annoying (adds to the pressure).

WISH (2) - A way to adjust a score for a pair (or a player in an individual), and not for the opponents (for example, to be able to substract 10% of a top for "bad manners"). Or to adjust against a pair that reached a superior contract through U.I., and not in favour of opponents who took a wild and gambling action after that.

do you mean like you cna give one pair aveage minus and one the correct score? if so then im in... i like to be able to do that... it allows you to punish someone for an infraction with out punishing the field.
Just my 2 cents on this

Hear! Hear! .... Great idea a running list of open calls rather than pop-ups :-)...... If you do that then we might lose the information the "caller" has recorded (reason for call) - but perhaps it could be displayed in the chat at the table when the Director responds to the call.

Thanks Gweny♥ Problem is..... i forgot what my wishes were, and now that i read all the other wishes, many of them were what i was hoping for ..... another one has been solved.... hear!! hear!!! to all the wishes!
:)

Ahh! remembered one!!

Anyway to show that one is directing, so one doesnt get so many private messages from friends who think you are kibbing, or sitting idle in lobby... it gets quite distracting... especially when you're busy doing something and suddenly you get a pop up from someone inviting you to play in a turney... there could be something when you hover mouse over name maybe where it says where the player is it could say (aisha759 directing for example) dont think thats possible, but definitely there must be something that can be done....we thought of having a different colour, (maybe only when directing) who has some bright ideas? change nick maybe like TD_Gweny, again only while directing, which means that new nick should have access to table... there could be a simple solution out there, unless of course its really not that much of a problem for other TDs...
Thanks
Aisha

  • Would be good, but a (n already planned) way to modify the Conditions of Contest can do it

  • Use RemoteKeys, does everything you want, and more. Maybe you can then share the macros you create with fellow TDs. Also a good tool to create alert macros of your own bids.

  • See 2.

  • Agree

  • YES!!! Please!  :)

  • Would be handy, but it is still duty of players to call dir on time issues

  •   Shouldn't be necessary for players to remember in what table they played. Maybe put table in the movie, or allow dirs to get the movie of a player. Something along these lines would be done eventually. DISCLAIMER: I'm not a programmer (here), so can't be 100% sure.

I am a great fan of OKScript. (Has Mike Mardesitch finished transporting this to Ophidio does anyone know?)

Unlike RemoteKeys OkScript is not freeware, but for all that it is dirt cheap to buy and comes with a lot of free support from bridgeplayers. There is a free version that has limited functionality that may yet be easily sufficient for the task envisaged at the commencement of this thread (items 2 and 3 I refer to).

I have not used Remotekeys (being happy with OKScript). Has anyone tried both and able to contrast the two? I would be interested in a comparison.

Hi Jack;
Downloaded remotekeys today, still reading to see how it works, will let you know.. also you may want to ask slothy, he is more adept with things like that, than i am... i think he has used it, you may want to compare notes..

Sorry to hear Marc that you found RemoteKeys too intellectually demanding ;) and that you remotely resembled 1eyedjacks avatar...if this does cause you some distress i can suggest a web-address....

yes dear i am ..

With regards to RemoteKeys jack i have just downloaded it and am getting to grips with it....nice little program very funtional and more than sufficient for what you appear to want it for. The advantage is, well for me anyway, is that it doesnt add to the registry like i am sure OKScript does so if you want to get rid of it just delete the folder its in ...also, doesnt eat up memory which is good if you havent got zillions of RAM...

So thumbs up from me...(used OKscript in its early days and very similar i think of course may have changed)...

Out of curiosity Jack...have you ever been at an airport and an old friend shouted "Hi Jack" across the foyet and everyone in the airport lounge suddenly dived onto the floor????

No, OKscript installation does not create any Windows Registry entries - just delete the directory (and shortcuts) to uninstall.

I don't expect that OKscript has changed noticeably since the "early days".

As to the RAM useage you may have a point. The executable program uses just 612Kb. If I launch the program and open the task manager in Windows XP it shows 5016Kb RAM useage. I am not a programmer but that seems rather a lot to me. It is possible that if you have a powerful computer it automatically allocates a significant minimum amount of RAM. For example, if I load a blank instance of Notepad.exe it records 3348Kb RAM useage.

I can only say that I have never had a memory conflict or resourse problem when using OKScript, although if you are having resource problems generally anyway then it may be more critical. I wouldn't know about that. As I say I am not a programmer and have not used remotekeys. for comparison.

I need help pls :P
Can you all rewrite the above posts in layman terms (now i know slothy will find a way to use his "esprit d'escalier").... I didn't understand a word of what you all said.. i thought remotekeys was to be able to add certain "foreign" letters which are not available on ones keyboard i.e french/ turkish... i found some of the letters, but not all are available; dilly dallied a bit to figure it out, but lost patience; my computer litteracy is close to nil, especially when it comes to all that vocabulary...
Would love some feed back (in english)
Thank you

 As a rookie BBO TD, I'm a little sheepish to be here suggesting enhancements but here goes .........

My TD Wish List:

1 - A Director controlled delay between players being seated at their tables and the players being able to see the first hand. This would be used for the Director to give instructions.

2 - A set of editable text (chat) macros (10-12) that are owned by the TD name, each one tied to a hot-key or PF key. The Director could pre-enter standard repetitive text to be used when running the tourney and insert the lines of text into the chat line via the hot-key/PF key on the fly.

3 - A good set of greetings and basic tournament instructions in several languages for those of us who are mono-lingual. I think Gweny has been working on this.

4 - A change to prevent Director calls from causing whatever task the Director is working on from vanishing

5 - A time clock at the table level

Frosty/Jan♥

Suggest that there be an automsg function during tournament. ie, At the first, some welcome msg can be autosended to tournament. And at the beginning of the last board, also thx msg sended....

especially at the begingning of a tournament, many calls run to screen, you have few time to type msg to tournament.

 Well I use, and i think frosty use, what we call macros file. Type out what you want to say then send this to you in either email or save it in .txt file. then when it is time to send announcements you copy in paste into chat line.

We all lust for macro keys we may program with 7-8 messages we use all time. in other site in past many tds find this very helpful in addition to copy last 4 lines of chat. this is very helpful when you accidentally type in things you wish to send to lobby only to find you send it to tournaent and need start all over again :-(

There are a lot 'wishes' every single BBO-TD has - I am sure! I also have some wishes, but I think since the very first day when BBO came up with tournaments the softwere improved 3000%. With todays softwere TDrs have 90% less work during a tourney then just a few months ago. Additionally we got much more choices, f.e. the possibility to compete in swiss movement tourneys.

I still love my idea of 'uclocked but clocked' tourneys like some others I already spoken out, but as i said I am VERY happy with what we have today! Thanks so much BBO!
Almost all things mentioned in this forum can be easyly replaced through just a small little bit more TDrs work.
Things like macros f.e. Open a file and copy from there ...
Partner sees when I query a bid - a possible source for illegal informations ... ask your players not to query unalerted bids - to ask in private...
Record of tablechat ... well this is hard ... often the blamed player leaves the tourney not the rude one .. but still .. explain player how to take a screen & where it is to be sent...
And so on...

But there is one thing, I really miss from the early early days of directing at BBO ...
When the director call message pops up, there was a jingle...
I really do miss it - especially in small tourneys with just a few calls, when I surf away...
Posted Imageclick me
Oh ! Ok Ok ... a simple 'beep' would be enuff for me ... Dont YOU miss it ?

Greets! Marta

Fortunately my Labrador only trys to type ( each paw weighing 25 lbs LOL)!!!

On the serious side I find it truly amazing that my original wish list is so out of date in only a short time. What a testimony to the fabulous tech/programming support at this site. I still do have a few wishes - some new, some old, some borrowed, nothing blue :P

1. One and only ONE director call per table at a time allowed

2. Removal of dead registrants (one or more player not online) two minutes before start of tournament.

3. Ability to move non-responding subs to the bottom of the sub registration list

4. A time clock in the Tournament Lobby so that the TD can tell how far along the Round is without going to the table

5. A chat option that allows me to copy/repeat previous chat

6. The ability to broadcast a message to TD's only when seeking a co-Director

7. A stand-by registration list to even out tables and fill in for those not seated

8. TD calls that don't interrupt what you are doing.

9. Better bridge skills

10. A roll of 100 dollar bills

:) Oh Greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat Programmer
Hear my plea....

May we please see how much time is left in round without entering tables?

We do not need much... a simple clock is fine...

Gweny, I use a freeware program called nthclock for keeping track of where we are. It is a simple Windows alarm clock program which includes the ability to set an alarn which rings repeatedly after x minutes. So for 8 minutes a round, you set it to go off at start time and every 8 minutes after that. Only problem is that the BBO clock seems only to allow tourneys to start at the top of the second hand, once every minute. If there are 100 seconds to start time (1:40) and you reset the clock to five minutes left, the tourney will start in five minutes and forty seconds. But you can get a beep to remind you when the round is almost done.
