Pass. The strong hand needs to describe what it holds. If it's spades, my lousy hearts don't mean much. If it's a big NT, I'll be able to show my hearts and let him decide.

I think you're going to get a lot of different answers here. It is also a rare auction, people won't have discussed this.

I think bidding 3♥ is fine. We have a strong hand (on the auction) and a five card heart suit, and that's what that bid promises. It conveniently does not preempt spades, so if partner has those they can still bid them. Pass is not much worse, but I prefer to get my hand off my chest at once.

Watch out for the fossils playing something like 'X shows this many points/controls, pass shows that many'.

For what it's worth, I am always terrified on auctions like this. Usually partner has a hand that has no business opening 2♣, and made a decision to bury a shapely hand in order to show points they don't have. But this time will be different.

we play X as T/O, so the option is either X or 3H, and I would go with X.
It is an interesting q, if Pass is forcing.

I'm very happy with my current partner, but we did have an accident of this exact type about half a year ago. It's not the biggest concern, in terms of frequency or impact. I prefer to focus on the issues that we deal with more regularly, and we'll get to this point at our leisure.

Double is weaker than pass, but you should always try to make a descriptive bid if possible.

I would not want to introduce this heart suit so I would pass.

At this level of interference, it is probably better to play X = values, rather balanced, and pass = no great. Had the overcall been 5D, it could be best to swap.

The H are kinda weakish but it also allows partner to cheaply bid S. However, I have a fit for S so we would not lose a M fit if I do not mention the H, and partner is likely better as declarer should they have DK.

So X for values.

My comment was poorly worded, I find it hard to believe your partners aren't top expert.

There are also fossils playing 'Pass is forcing with nothing special to say, X is capacity to punish this suit', which doesn't seem unreasonable, especially if opps are known to speed or psyche.

FWIW I like to play 'Pass is Red Flag, X is Waiting' up to 3 level (so yes, the Pass is NF).
