My partner and I play (Benjamin) Acol, 4CM, WkNT.
In my Bridge Club last week I had a hand with 10hcp ♠Axxx ♥A ♦xxxx ♣Qxxx. My partner, first in hand, opened 2NT. In response to my 3♣ (Stayman) bid my partner bid 3♠.
We had a minimum of 30hcp between us, a spade fit and I had a singleton A♥ I knew that the hand had slam potential but Gerber and Blackwood (the only slam conventions we use) won't give me the answers I need to decide whether a slam was on or not. Would rckb have given me those answers?

If this is any normal sort of stayman, 4♥ can't be natural so is probably the best bid, lsam try in spades, exactly what it shows is for partnership agreement

rkcb is just a different version of blackwood. it doesn't tell you if you have any tricks or not. blackwood in any form doesn't tell you if you can make slam. it just tells if you if you'll be going off at trick 1.

Hi,

after a Stayman response showing a 4 card major, it is common to play that bidding the other major as cheaply as
possible as forcing raise, this applis to 1 NT / 2NT openings.

In the given seq., this would be 4H.

An alternative option is to bid 5M as a quantitative raise, given that you are 30+ the slam usually wont go down
due to lack of KCs.

With the given hand, I would give up, you have 30-31/32 points, with the single Ace and only a 4-4 fit.
Move the Ace of hearts, than you should strongly invite, your single if looking at a 3 card, i.e. heart wastage
is possible, but reduced.
