Phil writes "Plan the play for the first few tricks."

Can think of nothing clever: Win K. Cross to A. Finesse Q.
-- if Q wins, then cash A (assume both follow), Cash A. Advance Q, hoping LHO started with K doubleton or trebleton.
-- If Q loses to K then hope s behave and that LHO has K doubleton. Win return with K. Cash K chucking a . Ruff a . Finesse Q. Cash A (K drops :)). Cash A ...

Hi Nigel.

On your line the spade hook works and on the Ace, LHO drops the ten on the 2nd round.

Still continue with AQ.
  • If Q wins then Cash A. Ruff a . Ruff out K. (Cash J if it's good). Ruff a . Discard dummy's remaining loser on a .
  • If a defender wins K, then win return. Cross to J and Ruff out K.
I guess that there are better lines but it's time for somebody else to have a go.

Perhaps an improvement on Nigel's line would be:
- When Q wins, play a low towards the South hand immediately.

This option will backfire if West started with a bare K. However, it should be superior to A then 's for other configurations.
