Gib xfers to spades and then bids clubs. LAters says it has 6 spades, when we all
knew it did not, and insists that 5C is a cuebid.
Not that any slam is particularly good, but clubs has to be better.

With his 4♠ bid, North seems to have declared that spades is trump, which maybe should be his prerogative. (No, I don't think he has the hand for it, and maybe that's point #1 of your post.) However, to your other point about the meaning of later club bids: after North has declared that spades is trump, anything South says is pursuing slam by cuebidding; in this case, by showing ♣AK (while denying ♥A. Given that, bidding 6♠ is inevitable.
PS: "Twice rebiddable" spades is not just 6, but six good ones or seven+ otherwise.

What is the point of bidding 3C if it can never ever play clubs?
