why can't I go down in 3NT in peace instead?

I know my 2♥ was an overbid, I profusely, deeply, sincerely apologize for it. Can we fix these crazy 4M bids that show 4 cards but GIB makes on 3 cards all the time now? Also, he should really pass 3♦. I can't see the explanation of my 2♥ bid but I think it was 16-20 total points and he has a crappy 7-count so after 3♦ he has no business going on. I know for a fact that 1♦ already limited my hand to 17- HCP so please please please partner let me be.



edit:

2♥ shows "5+♦; 4+♥; 17- HCP; 17-19 total points." At another table GIB managed to find a civilised 3♦ over it which was "3+♦; 6-7 total points."



Oh well, my fault for playing in these instant tournaments...
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.
