After several failures I finally managed to learn how to set up a Howell tourney. Sorry for posting this so late, hope you still make time to come play this Sunday, June 1st at 2PM New York time (8PM Central Europe)

Host: diana eva, matchpoints, howell movement. No idea how many boards, it'll depend on how many pairs register but I estimated approx 20 boards with 2 or 3 per round, depending on how many tables.

Lurkers welcome as usual.

Mgoetze you'd better come play this :P

Sorry - Playing in a poker tournament. If I weren't playing in the poker tournament, I would be playing in a local Sectional Swiss Teams.

The tourney is now visible on all versions of BBO and you can register to play. If you'd like to play with a friend who is not a member message me on BBO please and I'll add them.

I can now tick this off my bucket list: the first BBF Howell went smoothly as far as the technical aspects are concerned. However only kuhchung, gwnn and myself showed up to play it :P

I removed all restrictions with 10 mins till start, so we ended up with 6 tables (2 pairs of BBFers and the rest random BBOers).

Results here if anyone is curious: http://webutil.bridg...8509-1401645410

I have to admit the howell movement is pretty cool but OTOH it made absolutely no difference in increasing BBFers desire to participate, so I think it'll be easier to get these tourneys going if we stick with individuals for the next few weeks. I'll be happy to set another howell at some point in the future if there's enough request for it.

If this was a Howell, why does the standings list separate NS and EW?

Looks like it's using their seats from the last round.

Is it supposed to do that? Would it award masterpoints that way, in a point-awarding event?
