Warning - spoiler below
This cropped up tonight
Imps v vs nv
You hold as dealer. For thos who now me, yes 3C is pusillanimous, but I don't have 4C available as a pre empt. Could open 3nt, but this hand has potential in H as well - see below. :-)
void

xx
AQJTxxxx
3C (P) 3H (3S)
4H (4S) 5D (P)
?
3C showed a good pre empt - at least 2 of the top 3, 3H was forcing, 5D was ongoing, indicating a good lead against a sac
Problem 1 - Your bid?
Problem 2. Play the cntract
Whatever, you bid 6H and get x
lead is the 2 of C
You hold

This is a nightmare!
I assume the club is a singleton.... I can't! find a way to win 6h if East has Kxx of clubs and Kxx of hearts :-(
I win if east has Kx of hearts or if he has Kxxx of hearts oh my god,I'm going to misguess this one....
Take the club and play the cA

1. I bid 6 Club, I showed my Heart support already and will show thta my suit is REAL solid and playable opps a void.
2. I am not sure, that the club was a singelton. It is common practice, to play into the strength from dummy in the first trick. declarer may loose the communication between the hands or his timing.
But anyway, I can see no way, which really will survive a good defence without great breaks.
So I play the Queen of clubs and let her ride...
If the king takes the first trick, I must hope for clubs 2-2 and trumps 2-2 with the king onside AND a club return. Not really a big chance.
Even if the Queen wins the first trick I need the Hearts in this marvellous 2-2 shape to have a chance.
But unluckily, I can see NO way to win if I take the ace in the first trick....
In 6 Club I just need the heart finesse or the C Kx onside, that had been a much better contract....
Kind Regards
