IMPs.
After the non-2/1 auction 1S 2D 2H 2N 3N, you get the club 4 lead (3/5) to the Jack.
Your plan?

Shouldn't I have played the queen of clubs from dummy at trick 1?
If the queen holds, I play a diamond and have two entries to hands to set up and then (I hope) cash them and I can duck the second round of clubs safely
If the queen is covered by the king, I can at least set up another entry for certain with the 109, while if a low one gets the jack and LHO wins the first diamond and plays a club, I need the king on my left.

A low club gains spectacularly when RHO has Kx but that is the only holding

In either case I am in danger of going off if I get clubs wrong and they win the first diamond on my left and switch to a spade, and then duck a club and clubs are 4-3. If they do that I may have to decide what to play for.

Maybe I should have asked what they would lead from 3 low clubs (or 4 low).

p.s. is this imps or matchpoints?

Yup. This is from "The Rodwell files".
Posted as an advertisement for the book - it contains many hands with simple plays like this one that have cost many people many IMPs by missing them at the table.

I was thinking the same, but anyway, win and play 9, if RHO wins he cannot play clubs wihtout givin me another entry to hand. If LHO wins I will ahve to guess who has K when he underleads next.
