Imp pairs, White vs Red, you hold as East:

542
K9
T864
J732

(1)-X-(4)-Pa
(Pa)-X-(Pa)-?

Is this too little to pass? Or little enough to pass? I think 4NT to ask for the minors is not a bad idea. 4 is to play but at this vulnerability it is not a terrible hand. I suppose there's a tendency to double here with less because of the colours, am I right? Anyway, doubler held:

Was the double too much?

Opener redoubled. Would this make you bid if you didn't?

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

Imo 4nt is quite clear. Four down doubled is not much worse than them making 4sp doubled and I expect to go less than four down. Of course p might have four defensive tricks but I have no reason to expect that.
I think the second double is fine albeit obviously not.without risk .

The redouble should set alarm bells ringing. 2nd hand's takeout double showed support for
the unbid suits so 4th hand should bid his best suit preferring length over HCPs. The spade
void is invaluable.

The hand who is to respond to the second double clearly becomes offensive in nature, not defensive. Passing 4S doubled makes no sense to me. 4N.

the weak hand has a clear pass of 4X which has a high enough chance to go down to afford it. If partner had a less shape and more strenght it would often go down, even with his actual hand diamonds 3-2 will put it down most often.

After the redouble running out sounds like an interesting idea for both players.

there is a HUGE difference between IMPS and MP where the 2nd x at MP can be made with
almost any hand with 4+ tricks. At IMPS that is a nonsense idea since we need the 2nd x for
hands of a similar nature to the example hand. here is little to nothing to be gained by setting
opps 1 trick x and in the process giving up on a game. With this collection the best idea is
to bid

4n

showing 2 places to play letting p choose our minor. The xx just goes to show how looney tunes
these bids are since they may get to play 4sx a fair amount of time and almost never 4s xx------

I think you've misread the OP. The spade void is in the doubler's hand. 4th hand has the hand at the top, with 3=2=4=4 shape.

It is a shame when OPs don't take the trouble to show the hands in diagram form. In this particular OP, we even have to work out for ourselves who is dealer.

My partnership rule is that you don't pull a double here unless you think you can go plus so I have to pass.

Not perfect by any means and likely to lose out here but at least partner will understand. They won't if I pull and go for a number against our own plus so we take our juice.
