had this one come up in GNT game yesterday was
curious what other would do with this gem.

I passed and the 9was the setting trick for a whole 3 imp gain
just a few more gray hairs added

You have to pass but I agree it sucks.

call me chicken but I would bid 4 at IMPs (my partner can't be 18-19 balanced if that makes a difference). This is possibly just bad bridge since I seem to be in the minority (or others where preempted by Jlogic answer :)). I have always underestimated the value of 9 of clubs ...

Perhaps its my own dataset but whenever I pass with this hand type it almost always works out well, even though I sweat it at. I have a lot outside of spades and I'd be pretty surprised if they wrapped it.

+200 happens about 6 in 10 times and you sometimes get a 500 when declarer gets handlocked. I'm mostly worried about the min negative x when partner has a void spade - that is the danger scenario.

To me, LOTT says that this is almost certainly a clear pass. Of course, LOTT doesn't have to be right but I fear bidding may often turn +200 or possible 500 into the same minus.
