Another close slam decision? Are you worried about the JS?

Matchpoints. Vanilla 2/1. Cue-bidding 1st or 2nd round controls.

Suppose you ask and find out partner has the Q, are you worried about maybe needing to find the J, or do you just take a flyer that partner has it?

This is such a lousy start.
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

If you would imply better methods before you need to ask for KCs, you would need less guessing.

Anyway, being here, I would guess 5 Spades. Even with the jack of spades I have no idea how many diamond losers I have, so I would take the low road.
Kind Regards

If blackwood doesn't give you the info you need to decide, then you shouldn't bid it. 4 looks much better.

I never sing off with only 1 keycard missing, it is a mater of being consistent with previous bidding, if slam is wrong off 1 keycard then blackwood was the problem. So ask for Q and play 6.

6 can be better than 6, but the ocntrary is also true, and it is MPs, so go for 6.

Not gonna disagree, but can you be more specific and/or constructive?

For starters, it would have been much better to have a gadget like Golady, where Responder bids 2C artificial GF, Opener rebids 2H to show spades, and Responder bids 2S to set trumps, as then we could have a much better cue sequence.

But, assuming normal methods up to 3S, it would have been nice for Responder to be able to hear Opener's diamond strength better, with Opener only bidding 4D with two of the top three diamonds.

It would also perhaps be better if Responder were to bid 4H instead of RKCB, because Responder really wants to answer rather than ask, lacking any intermediates in spades AND diamonds.

There are other things too, but they get a tad complicated.

So partner has shown 2 of the top 3 diamonds (4) and 1 keycard (5)? If partner has the trump queen he can show a side suit king at the same time. This will help in constructing some hands for his 3 bid.
If KJ are missing, you still have some play with those intermediates in spades...
