I would have asked about 3NT. I still do so now, although pass is probable in any case.

You would received the answer "natural".

Also, I should have mentioned that 1 is 4+ and limited to 16 if it matters.

I am definetely bidding, probably 4 NT in case pd has 5-6.

I know i have a balanced hand but pd doesnt, he made his bid r/w and i have all the help he needs. Worst case scenario will be we will go down 1 when +300 was available. I dont expect to take 6 tricks in defense even if pd has xx and stiff and we manage to give him 2 ruffs we may end up getting 5 tricks only. Not neccesarilly but most of the time we get 6 tricks in defense, we will make 5 level contract. I can see easily it can be 8-9 tricks for them and 11 tricks for us.

Is the 1 = 4+ part of a canape style? RHO's 3N is interesting, assuming they had a choice of 3 or equivalent to show a good raise of (and presumably other forcing bids as well).

At this vulnerability, it's tempting to bid on, but what is pard's style for Michaels at these colors?

Agree with 4NT, and cuebid 5 over 5. If partner bids 5 instead I guess I'll pass.
I suspect the 3NT bidder was just messing around.

I guess I'd double. I think 11 tricks are possible, but I don't have enough to bid on my own. Maybe partner can still act.

I'll DBL. Partner has to have some cards to Michaels R/W at IMPs.

Partner heard my raise but may not know if it was based on distribution or values. I think the DBL tells it's on values.

If partner is more distributional -- 6-5 or 6-6 -- partner can bid on.

IMO 4N = 10. 5 = 9, Pass = 6, 4N is a slight underbid, Can vulnerable partner have less than
  • xx AQJxx x Axxxx? or if you believe RHO then
  • - Jxxxxx - xxxxxxxx?

Can I have the 4H bid back and double instead?

RHO really seemed like he was jokering here. I'm not sure what happens if I double but my RHO said I tanked for 2 1/2 minutes before bidding 5. Partner held void QJTxxx QJ Axxxx (is it clear to pull? Probably so). This hand had an odd symmetry to the other one with the 5-1 diamonds, and 4-1 clubs so RHO's tomfoolery stopped his partner from competing to 5.

By the way, wouldn't this make sense over 3N:

4 - p/c.
4 - good heart hand.
4 - competing.

Yeah Phil they make sense, hope you rememebr them the next time you get this bidding :D

I also wonder if there was way for stablishing a forcing pass wich I would love to make now. There doesn't seem to

If partner has clubs we make 11 tricks and maybe 12. If partner has diamonds they make a lot of tricks anyway so why not bid on? I always lose 7 IMPs for bidding on on this situations.

4NT sounds like it.

Just don't pass, lol.
It seems like 5 level contract is making often enough and they won't go down too much in 4S (or even somehow make it). I bid 4N hoping it has "pick your long suit" implications.
