Since North is a passed hand, what would bidding 2♣ or 2♥ show over 1♠? Only after South bids his suit THREE times is North willing to introduce his own suit at the four level? Would he really do this with only a four-card suit, as the explanation says?

seems weird that it would bid over 3♠ pass of 2♠ at matchpoints would be ok in my book. I guess doesnt take into account values for 2/1 by a passed hand...but in GIB 1♠ followed by 2♥ then 2♠ rebid would only show 5 card suit which would be more a problem for North. Seems like GIB made the correct call of 1NT to get to 6-1 fit but wanst happy with it several times
