Pass-Pass-Pass-2♠
Suppose this shows six spades and some point range. What ranges (if any) require an alert? How about if 2♠ is forcing?

I tried to find something which covers this, concluded that unless it shows another suit (plus spades or not), it doesn't seem to be a required alert. As usual, I could be wrong; but I look for reasons to disclose rather than excuses not to, and still couldn't find one.

From the alert chart, under "Alert":
Natural 2D, 2H or 2S, if intermediate or better
So if you have an agreement to open intermediate or better in 4th, it requires an alert. But nobody does it, and I have never been called about it in all my years of directing.

This topic has come up many times.
I play it as a hand that would open 1♠ and rebid 2♠ over any non-jump response.
I see no reason why this would be alertable, as it alerts itself. A fourth seat "preempt" is something that players always ask about.

A lot of people might think the same way, but then the alert procedures aren't really about what people feel they should be alerting, are they?

They aren't much about openings in fourth seat, either.
