In 3rd seat against good opponents, I decide to psych 1♠ with a 2 count, and the bidding continues:

When dummy hits, I see I've created some real problems for South, who has a balanced 25 count.

The full hand was:

Declarer made 11 tricks, losing both major suit finesses, after I led my ♠3. Most of the field were in 3NT; one pair bid and made 6♦.

South has no err, marbles, and needs to bid 3N

He believed my bid and thought his partner therefore probably had a yarborough and he'd have no entries to dummy.

My first succesful psyche was opening 1♣ in first on a two count and keeping a straight face when I realized I had counted my cards instead of my points.

If partner has a yarborough and not an extreme shape which the bidding and hand suggests then diamonds would be hopeless anyway might as well gamble on 3NT straight- an extreme hand with a long solid minor should be jumping to 3NT straight over the 1♠.

Quartic, the hand you put up looks similar to a hand that opened 1♣ against me - just switch the black suits. I had a hand similar to South, and luckily was playing with a really weak partner who played 3NT = 25-27, so I just bid it. Ended up making 6 when partner had (♦KJxxxx + ♠Kxx), and just lost the A♥.

Even without the agreement, South should just bid it. Either East is lying, or East has most of the points, in which case I bet we can endplay him/her. If we don't make it, that's just bad luck.

Agree that south should just bid 3NT at some point. However, is anyone else curious as to why North only bid 4D?
