Butler

East doubles and then:

West passes?
West bids 4? (and IF North doubles 4, does East bid 4NT?)
West bids 5?

East bids 5?

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

I think I'd land in 4.

I think W has the choice between 4 and pass. 5 probably makes less often than 4 and besides, 4 gives p some room if he has a special hand that can bid 4NT or 5 next.

Pass is a likely winner on this board but I would bid 4. As it is, E has to pass 4. Let's hope that 4 makes and that we go for no more than 500.

I don't think pass is an option. I would consider it a blunder at imps (and at matchpoints it's still serious mistake imo).
If they double it's time for soul reading but I guess pass is normal. If anybody can run it's W imo.

Certainly agree with that.

Definitely 4 with West and, if North doubles, pass the double with East. West should probably pull to 5 but it would depend on opponents and table feel.

I would x and would also land in 4S. If doubled ????

Hi,

If East intends to bid on after 4S, and this is indepent of the fact, that
North doubles, the double should make no difference, than East should bid 4NT
at once.

Having said that - East doubles West bids 4S, followied by passes from both
is fairly normal.

With kind regards

Why East doubles?
West made no 1S overcall (lighter over 1H),
nor jump 2S (eager over 1H).
We have no better than S:4-3.
This hand is offensive shape.
Try 5D.
Leave double for those hands without good shape.
