All white, playing Matchpoints, you deal and have Kxx, xx, AKxx, KQ9x. You open 1 (some would open 1NT, but this is not the case), LHO pass, partner bid 2 (inverted minors), and RHO bid 3. What would you bid then?

I guess it is very likely that partner is 3361, but it doesn't really matter since he will not sit for a double with that. Obviously double.

Clear double, and not opening 1N is absurd.

Agree with both statements.

I could understand playing inverted doubles in this position (X = 2/3 cards in opp's suit) but penalty doubles are a complete mystery for me. :)
Obviously I pass, planning to convert partner's protective double to juicy penalization.

Have I been treated for the gunshot wound I inflicted on my foot(punishment for not opening 1NT!) ? In what 2/1 or SAYC system is this not a 1NT call? Having to fix this after the fact is more difficult so 3NT and hope partner has either 3 and they are splitting 44 or that he has a good stopper.

Well said. 1D is hiding your point count from your partner. Now with that miss information he/she
responds 2d. I don't think there would have been any interference over a sequence started by opening 1NT.
So I say you screwed up now ware it buddy. 3nt is a bit of a gamble now, but it looks like the only way out.

Why do you need a takeout double when you are known not to have a fit in a major, and known to have a diamond fit? I could not imagine this double being anything other than penalty.

Ok why did i opened 1,and why opening 1 Nt would be absurd will remain as mystery to me for the rest of my life. Maybe i should cut down drinking in either not to open 1 with this hand anymore or to understand the absurdity of Nt opening.
What to do now...well i have denied balanced 15-17 hcp. hand so im not going to try to introduce such hand to my prd. Do we have a slam in ...opps that train has already left and since prd probaply have couple of clubs it can start with club to the ace and club ruff.
Ill pass and wait my prds double, if that is what he do.After my prd bids 3 or 3 as a cue bid i bid 3Nt. What do i do after 3S cue bid, that is not going to happen i hope.
