Just curious to see if other people would bid this hand

IMPs

the way I did. With RHO opening 1H all vul at IMPS, what's your strategy for this hand?

If you pick X (as I did) it goes

IMPs

3S was explained as "weak, long suit".

Now what?

Thanks,

Well you have 3NT set at least five tricks which is close to a vulnerable game.

If you double and say the opponents run to 4S or 4H, why do you think it is going to get any better?

I would have bid 3NT,which shows such a hand. Double is rarely my choice with a singleton in the only unbid major.

Doubling 3NT is insane now. So pass and hope that 3NT will be the final contract.

Hmm, it never occurred to me to pass 3NT... at the table I picked 5C.

This worked out semi-well when the opps phantom-sacced in 5S and went 4 off. Pity both of us didn't double (the 3NT bid put me off doubling as I thought N had the rest of the HCPs, in which case I will probably only make the DA and HK).

Not sure whether S would have removed to 4S if I had passed 3NT - probably, given he had 7 spades to AKJ and not a lot else.

I would have bid 3N over 1. I'd pass over this 3N.
Yay for the "Ignored Users" feature!

Agreed.

I'm bidding 5C over 4M though.
