North's bid after 1 is 1. The suit quality is just enough.

South's bid after a double is 2. I mean, no one would double with North's hand unless double was a transfer to spades. So, South transfers back to spades with a jump to show extras.

Seriously, though. Are you serious? How would South ever have that issue presented? I mean, what to do after a 1NT overcall makes more sense than what to do after a double.
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

1C 1S p 2C, north will try to get to 3N after that and eventually they'll play 4S.

Q1 1S, but a partnership agreement, playing an oldfashioned style,
overcalls being limited to roughly 15HCP, X is an reasonable option,
of course one should downgrade the North hand.
Q2 2H
Q3 your auction will do the job, since North will bid 2S over 2H,
showing a strong hand with 5 spades.
South may even try for slam, with a 4C splinter, but North
will just sign of in game.
After a 1S overcall, you will also reach 4S, although most likely
South wont make a splinter bid.

With kind regards
Marlowe

PS: Just read the suggestion to 4H with the South hand, I am not 100%
convinced that 4H is THE BID, but I agree, that 2H is not enough, so lets
change 2H to 3H.
With kind regards

Q1: 1 - not strong enough for X and then
Q2: 2 - we would like to bid 4 with this hand but for me 4 shows at least 6 hearts so that we don't preempt ourselves when the doubles has a strong one-suiter
Q3: (1) - 1 - 2 - 2NT - 4

This was my partner's response to the question on why he didn't bid 1S.

Question...is it really an "oldfashioned style" that overcalls are limited to 15? I thought that was pretty standard.

I still think 1S is the better bid after downgrading a point or so for 2 unsupported queens, but didn't think Double was as bad a bid as Kenrexford did.

Yep, super old fashioned. You should overcall with up to 17 without fear.
