If there were not people around who would try to cash the K♦ and then try for the ruff and then the hart pitch, then none of us would ever get a top board through carelessness.

Why does the ♠Q defeat the contract? Can't you just ruff one club, draw trumps (with no losers) and squeeze East in everything? What am I missing?
