After a Stayman auction, the opponents reach 3NT, with both players having one major. You are on lead with Jxxx of Diamonds and 98xx of clubs. It is matchpoints. Which minor do you lead (sorry, I don't know the rest of the hand).
Assume you have an entry and about 5 HCP in the majors, say Ax and Jxx.
Would you lead differently at IMPs?

I'd lead a club at either form of scoring. I dislike leading from Hxxx, because it often costs a trick, and even when it doesn't it rarely sets up enough tricks.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

neither is really great I might even prefer leading from Jxx in the major if dummy is the one who has that major.

I would lead from 98xx.
Leading from Jxxx is quite likely to give away another overtrick.

What holdings of partner's clubs would make a lead-direct double of Stayman? Many good C-holdings would. So, I choose a D opening lead.

I am a club leader. The bit about the failure to double 2♣ is a red herring, IMO.
RHO surely has 2+ clubs, and most competent LHO's do as well. The chances of partner having 5 clubs good enough are just so small that I deem the choice to really come down to what is in your hand, and that Jack of Diamonds is just too big a card to lead away from, especially at matchpoints.

I wish I hadn't seen the answer yet since I don't know what I would have done. I have a long history in these situations of choosing whichever option works worse on the actual hand.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

clear club I think, almost the same chance of beating it, much less chance of blowing a trick.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.
