One forum user (Lurpoa) has been reported for multiple aliases created for the sole purpose of vote spamming, and action has been taken against this poster.

Yes, Lurpoa behaved badly. At one point, I posted this referring to her, before I realized that I was not her sole target:

However, what about those who went back and serial downvoted her posts in her first-created thread? http://www.bridgebas...er-competition/ It appears to me that four aliases were created "for the sole purpose of vote spamming". Has any action been taken against the members who did that, or are different members held to different standards?

Lurpoa and the aliases I know of, and the IP addresses I know about, have been banned. Her aliases I am trying to perm ban. The username Lurpoa will be allowed to return soon if all goes well (meaning if I stop seeing creations of aliases using new IP and other weird stuff), although when she returns, if she should wish to change to another main username she would be able to.

There is an awful lot of use of the word "I" in this explanation. Are moderators able to ban users unilaterally, or does this action require approval of a group?

Odd... I asked a simple and direct question about procedure. Why would an admin downvote my question without answering it?

Lurpoa wouldn't be punished if there was no voting system in the first place. If you give people toys, they'll play with them. But that's no reason to abuse them, obviously.

"I: down voted your post because "I" didn't like your the tone of your post talking about the use of "I" in the post by rain. "I" am not particulary fond of attacks on Rain and "I" thought yours was offensive to "I" (well me). "I" hope this explains why "I" downvoted your post. But if it doesn't, "I" don't care if it doesn;t. "I" guess "I" could have used some sort of official saction, but "I" didn't think "I" could have justified that to "I" (well myself).

"I" had no attention to discuss what moderators can do with or without consultation. But if you must know, "I" guess I can tell you that we can do thing individually or after consultation with others. Ban's that extend to the gaming site are GENERALLY administired by the yellow of the name "ABUSE" but all yellows can give limited bans which they must justify and which are subject to immediate reversal, or will expire shortly anyway. That is a purpose of the "super secret" forum where they report such actions. Generally they are to report and not take action themselves. A few yellows (not me) have more power and authority than even abuse. Rain is one of these, and she earned that position of power over time.

Just so you know, "I" counted the number of tiimes "I" used "I" in this post for you to make it easy for you to complain about "I" (well, my) use of "I". Counting this use, there are 23 "I"'s in this post.

Mine was an attack that offended you, but not the post that started:

Rain, it never ceases to amaze me how ignorant you are about pretty much everything related to BBF and BBF posts/posters/whatever. Not only that, but you do not even attempt to find facts, you merely make baseless speculations, and assume they are probably correct...

I removed a topic naming some players as cheater suspects - To report suspected UI sharers, please email the names, along with some evidence (like hand results or anything else you have) to abuse@bridgebase.com.

And JLOGIC's aliases that he has been using to upvote himself and downvote Lurpoa? Are they being banned as well?

Oh, missed a couple of posts in which this question has been asked. It's well worth asking again though. There seems to be a serious issue of preferential treatment.

I would be really interested in the definition of "vote spamming". After all, I wouldn't want to accidentally be guilty of it.

I am upset that I missed out on such an exciting flame war...

Is there still any opportunity to upvote, downvote, or at least unleash a string of profanities?

Yes, ample opportunity. And please do; the comedy that ensues is wonderfully entertaining.

Edited a post that's clearly a personal attack by Lurpoa (by deleting its contents). Lurpoa is supposed to be banned still - so trying to make sure ban is in effect as well.

A post entitled New heads up tournament was moved from "general bridge discussion" to "suggestion for the software". Note, this is important in this case as the key people who might consider such a suggestion surely read that forum, other forums for them are hit and miss.
