1NT-(DBL)-P-(2X)
DBL??-(p)-DBL??
Partner opens strong 1NT and RHO DBL for penalty. You pass and LHO is weak and bids a suit.
Do you play DBL by 1NT opener or by responder as penalty or take-out?
(Normally we play take-out DBLs, but penalty after we have made a penalty DBL. What is best here?)

What is DBL ...or how do you play it

t/o. Certainly by opener.
If you play responder's dbl of a direct overcall as penalty, you could play responder's dbl as penalties here, too.

The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

Takeout my opener for sure... I guess penalty by responder for me...
Yay for the "Ignored Users" feature!

Depends on what pass to 1NT doubled is.
- In cases where dbl forces rdbl, it's common to use these doubles as take out.
- When pass is simply to play, some play dbl as penalty.
