Gnome, I don't think you tend to appreciate how special good 7 card suits are. They should be loved and cherished and rebid. When you are playing in a different fit when you have a good 7 card suit it is always a very sad thing, especially at the partscore level.
The question to me is whether to rebid 2S or 3S. I would just bid 2.

Why would you think that?
I can tell you that...
1. At both tables the auction started this way.
2. At both tables opener rebid 3S.
3. After seeing dummy, several people commented that this hand should have raised hearts instead.
For what it's worth, I was responder on the hand and didn't make such a comment (I hadn't paid attention to what partner's hand was).

Anyone who says opener should raise hearts is a big fat resulter.

Not that it proves anything, nor that you agree with partner's call.
I think the expected heart length is 8 (6+2) with a relatively low variance.
I think the expected spade length is 8 (7+1). Then the question is whether we expect the hand to play better in spades or hearts and despite what others have said, I will note that there was a 1NT overcall on our left, so I think we should at least consider (even if we ultimately reject) playing in hearts.
In this case, partner happened to have a spade less and a heart more than we expected.
I think Justin did hit an important point of whether we should rebid 2♠ or 3♠ and he does goes plus on the deal.

Sort of, but really I was implying I didn't know which major I would want to play in if the red suits were reversed and therefore that must be the good problem.

Again, I note I didn't criticize partner's bid. I was more curious if others agreed with the post mortem of raising hearts and how one should consider it. Given that there were some reasonable players advocating such a call, I didn't find it as trivial as many of you have.
I can't really say what I would have bid at the table, as I didn't hold the hand. However, it does seem to me that rebidding KQT9xxx is a good thing to do.

I would just try to aim down the middle at a partscore we are going to make almost all the time, at the same time positioning partner to raise spades at least some of the time it's right if and when the opponents bid more in the minors.
Edit -- I suppose he could have ♦K, ♣KJ, or ♥KJ, ♦K, but those are both narrow targets. Since I expect partner would not raise 3♠ to 4 with, eg, x, KJxxxx, Kx, xxxx, I don't think our implied odds on jumping to 3♠ on the current turn are very good, although I admit it's not impossible we would want to bid a game looking at both of our hands.
