Where will you land, and what's your auction on this one with no interference? What about with a 2 overcall by West? Enjoy :)

Scoring: IMPs

(Hands Rotated)

3NT was reached in the Open Room. 6 in the Closed Room.

1N 3D
3H 3S
4C 4H
4S 5N
6C

3D 55 minors GF, 3H shortness ask, 3S short hearts. South maybe has a 7C bid the way the auction went over 5N, but thats strange.

I would probably land in 6, with or without overcall.

If my pard held the N hand, he might drive to 7 :)

Without interference, two likely auctions, many possible:

1NT-2(artificial, may possibilities)
2NT(no four-card minor unless minimum)-3(shortness)
4(1430 RKCB clubs)-4(1)
4NT(Queen?)-5(yes, and diamond King)
5(void here?)-7(yes, and spade King)

or

1NT-3(ostensibly 3145/3154)
4...

With 2 overcall (natural, I assume):

1NT-(2)-4

This is weird. 4 should be Texas, but Texas into hearts makes no sense. However, the default is that Texas into their suit is a shortness slam try. We reach 6, but 7 is a bit rich.

It's very easy to come up with an auction to reach 7 in some reasonable looking way. Whether that auction would actually occur at the table, who knows? But if you reach 3NT you are just lazy I think.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

"Lazy?"

That's too kind a word. I cannot imagine any auction where reaching 3NT is not actually quite retarded.

Good problem. Have no idea how to bid this.

In Modern American Bidding, Eric Kokish suggests 1N 3D = 55 or better minors, gf then 3H = shape ask then 4H = 3055 (4S = 0355) but he doesn't discuss how opener sets trumps and goes from there. If responder bids 4M, maybe you can play 4N as a relay to 5C. That would let opener bid 5m to set trumps and ask for key cards. Don't see how that makes it easy to get to 7C though.

Edit: In MAB, 3D includes 54 minors also.
